Troubleshooting Google Calendar

Solving common issues with Google

Why am I getting notifications 10 minutes before every class?

Google Calendar automatically adds a 10-minute notification to every event by default, which causes frequent notifications for SchoolCal-created events like class periods.

Solution 1: Remove notifications for all users (Administrators)

In your SchoolCal event template, check the box labeled "Delete event notifications." This prevents notifications from being added to SchoolCal events for everyone. Note: This is an all-or-nothing setting—if you want individual users to decide, don't check this box.

Solution 2: Remove notifications for yourself (Individual users)

  1. Click the three dots next to your primary calendar and choose "Settings and Sharing"
  2. Scroll down to "Event Notifications"
  3. Click the "x" next to the 10-minute notification

Note: If SchoolCal has already been deployed, removing the automatic notification setting will also remove notifications from existing SchoolCal events. Users can still manually add notifications to individual events if desired.
